The Minnesota Judicial Branch continues to carefully monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and to coordinate closely with statewide partners including the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB). In response to the March 20, 2020 Court Order, the office of the Board of Continuing Legal Education is closed to the public effective March 23, 2020.
Board staff is still working and anticipates COVID-19 having only a minimal impact to Board activity.
We encourage you to contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns. Telephone calls may go to voicemail, but will be returned as quickly as possible.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, the Minnesota Supreme Court issued an Order suspending the 15 credit limit for on-demand continuing legal education for Category 3 lawyers due to report August 31, 2020, for the July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020 reporting period. Lawyers due in 2020 may report these credits through OASIS. If you have any issues with reporting this way, please contact the office at the email address above.
Lawyers are encouraged to contact the Board office by email if you have concerns related to your compliance. We understand that many sponsors are providing remote access to programming. As a reminder, Rule 5A(5) of the Rules of the Board of Continuing Legal Education permits lawyers to attend and report 100% of their CLE obligations through live teleconferences and webinars. On-demand credits for lawyers not due to report in 2020 are still subject to the 15 credit hour cap.
Additional guidance to sponsors who need to make changes to previously approved courses is available here.
We will continue to update this page if there are any additional changes.
